Saturday, April 13, 9:30-1:30 p.m. TRAIL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTPlease meet Dave and Bill in the main parking lot of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park for a hike to Hood Mountain and lunch on Gunsite Rock. If you've ever looked up at Hood Mountain from Highway 12 at Pythian Road and wondered about that rock face, this is the hike for you! The hike covers nine miles, requires climbing a total of 2,200 feet in elevation, and will take us approximately six hours round trip. We recommend that you wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring a lunch with lots to drink. As always, we will hike rain or shine.
Due to limited parking at the lower parking lot (Goodspeed trail head), we will start at the main (upper) parking lot and hike down to the Goodspeed trail head via the Pony Gate trail. If you find a parking space at the lower parking lot, wait for our arrival there at approximately 10:30 A.M. Upon our return to the lower parking lot in the afternoon, a van will be available to shuttle you back up to the main parking lot. Call Dave at 539-8847 or Bill at 833-6288 for further information.
Meet at the stable and join the effort to improve the Sugarloaf trails. Please bring water, gloves, sturdy boots, and a lunch. Call Toni on Friday (538-3164) to confirm go/no go status. Heavy rain cancels.
